Penryn College students continue to achieve fantastic GCSE results
The Class of 2026 students reunited and celebrated their fantastic academic achievements on Thursday morning, as they returned to the school for a memorable GCSE Results Day. Their hard work, determination and resilience led to excellent results and there was a sense of pride and joy among students, their families and staff in attendance.
Excellent results saw our students in the class of 2026 achieve above national average numbers of students achieving both 4+ and 7+ grades. Equally impressive was the high numbers of top grades obtained. High scorers included Amalia A who achieved a staggering 10 grade 9’s, Benjamin G with 8 grade 9’s and Beth D, Sarah W and Mia P achieving 7 grade 9’s, amongst others who secured grade 9’s and 8’s. 12 of our students secured an impressive average of grade 8 and higher in their GCSE’s and 25 students achieved 8 or more grades 9-7, a huge achievement.

We are passionate about success of all students, and we are proud that 118 of our pupils achieved at least 1 grade 7 and nearly 50% of the cohort achieved at least a grade 5 in both English and Maths. Across all of the ability ranges Penryn College pupils continued to make exceptional progress, with a significant number of pupils achieving grades higher than expected, maintaining the school’s excellent track record.
We are particularly proud of the success of those students who undertook a foreign language. 62% of the Spanish cohort achieved a grade 9 and we had wonderful results for those students who studied home languages including Arabic, German and Greek. Another strength continues to be the outcomes in sport with 51% of the PE GCSE grades being a 7 or above, and 62% of students achieving a Merit or above. Additionally, Year 10 students who sat their GCSE RE Fast Track exam a year early all achieved a grade, with 60% of pupils achieving a grade 9-7 and 9 students earning a grade 9.
Our ten Year 11 students in our ARB have achieved huge successes from incredible academic results to receiving their DofE certificates today and we cannot be prouder of them.
Reflecting on this year’s fantastic achievements, Penryn College Headteacher, Mrs. Croxall, said: “Almost all our students (97.9%) in the class of 2026 left Penryn College with at least one qualification with the average number of qualifications achieved being 7.1. This is a testament to the hard work and perseverance of all our students, but also their families who continue to be the greatest support. Our new school motto is ‘Belong, Aspire, Succeed' and our year 11 students have embodied this in their approach to life at Penryn College, not only achieving academic success but taking advantage of all the other opportunities afforded to them along the way. They now have all the skills to start the next stage of their journey. We could not be prouder of their success, and we wish them all the very best for their futures. Well done to them all and to the staff and families who have worked tirelessly to inspire this success.”
A parent said: “We are very pleased with the results. He wouldn’t be going on to where he is, having been awarded a scholarship, if it wasn’t for Penryn College. This school has shaped his future; they found out all about him and homed in on what he needed. It has been amazing!”
